Due to the continuing COVID-19 epidemic, the picture was repeatedly delayed, with Universal eventually opting to retain the October theatrical release date and add a simultaneous Peacock release on the streaming platform’s premium tiers. Halloween Murders had its global debut at the Venice International Film Festival, where it received mixed reviews from reviewers who appreciated the film’s kills, franchise allusions, and performances but thought it didn’t offer anything new to the long-running genre.
